Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk on Friday hinted that the recently unearthed sexual harassment allegation against him was politically motivated, claiming that his stance on free speech had led to the predicament.

Twitter user @catturd2 gave their two cents on the recent allegation against Musk, writing, “LOL … @elonmusk says he’s going to vote Republican for the first time. The next day a sexual misconduct allegation suddenly appears. Elon is learning just how evil the Left really is – but I have a feeling, he’s going to win.”

The tweet elicited a response from the billionaire, who claimed that the left began “brewing all kinds of attacks” after the announcement of the Twitter acquisition.

“In my 30 year career, including the entire MeToo era, there’s nothing to report, but, as soon as I say I intend to restore free speech to Twitter & vote Republican, suddenly there is …,” the 50-year-old wrote, leaving the rest for readers to figure out.

The controversy erupted after Bloomberg reported that SpaceX had paid $250,000 to settle a sexual harassment allegation against Musk in 2016 wherein it was alleged that the billionaire exposed himself to a flight attendant.

Musk, however, denied the claims made in the report, writing on Twitter, “I have a challenge to this liar who claims their friend saw me ‘exposed’ – describe just one thing, anything at all (scars, tattoos, …) that isn’t known by the public. She won’t be able to do so, because it never happened.”

The billionaire had also urged users to view the allegations against him through the lens of politics, and had gone on to insinuate that those on the left of the political spectrum were pushing back against him for his stance on free speech.

“The attacks against me should be viewed through a political lens – this is their standard (despicable) playbook – but nothing will deter me from fighting for a good future and your right to free speech,” the 50-year-old had written after the report came to light.

Days ago, Musk announced that he would vote Republican, and accused the Democratic Party of becoming “the party of division & hate.”

Of late, Musk has intensified his criticism of the so-called “left”, criticism which appears to be directed at liberals, although the billionaire has yet to make the distinction.
