The 30-share Sensex tumbled 571.44 points or 0.99% to close at 57,292.46. During the day, it dropped 634.85 points or 109% to 57,229.08. The broader NSE Nifty dropped by 169.45 points or 0.98% to settle at 17,117.60.

The only gaining sectoral indices on the BSE were Metal up by 1.70%, Basic Materials up by 0.23% and Healthcare up by 0.04%, while Utilities down by 1.89%, Power down by 1.81%, FMCG down by 1.46%, Bankex down by 1.30% and Capital Goods down by 1.12% the on BSE.

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals: Share of the company closed 2.53% higher at Rs 455.10 after the company received final approval from the US FDA for its Lacosamide Tablets, used to prevent and control seizures.

Reliance Industries: Shares of the conglomerate dropped 0.75% to close at Rs 2,463.00 after it announced that its subsidiary Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd has acquired an 89% equity stake in Purple Panda Fashions, which owns and operates Clovia business, with an investment of Rs 950 crore through a combination of secondary stake purchase and primary investment.

Maruti Suzuki: The automaker’s shares closed 0.27% lower at Rs 7,672.00 following the market sentiment after jumping more than 3% in the morning trade. Japan’s Suzuki plans to invest $1.4 billion for electric vehicles (EV) at its India factory. Suzuki Motor owns the majority stake in the Indian auto major Maruti Suzuki. Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private will invest Rs 3100 crore by 2025 to increase production capacity for battery EV manufacturing and Rs 7300 crore for construction of plant vehicle batteries, the company said.

Jubilant Pharmova: The stock rallied over 10% to close at Rs 450.65 after the company received approval from the US FDA for the manufacturing of the generic version of Sinequan that is used to treat depression. According to an exchange filing, Jubilant Pharma, through its subsidiary Jubilant Cadista Pharmaceuticals Inc, has received the final approval for the abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) doxepin hydrochloride capsules.
