Gold prices rose marginally on Tuesday on the back of a
weaker dollar, but the surge was capped as investors avoid taking bigger bets
ahead of the US Fed’s meeting over interest rate hikes. In June, the steepest
hike in US annual consumer prices in over four decades triggered the
expectations of around a 100-basis point rate hike. However, traders reduced
those bets following recent weak economic readings.
