The BSE Sensex opened on a weak note and plunged 508.62
points or 0.94% to settle at 53,886.61. During the day, it fell 570.26 points
or 1.04% to 53,824.97. The NSE Nifty slipped 157.70 points or 0.97% to close at
16,058.30.

The broader indices ended in red with the BSE Mid cap index
down by 0.51%, while Small cap index down by 0.52%. On the sectoral front, Utilities
was up by 1.27%, Telecom was up by 1.22%, Power was up by 1.15% and Realty was
up by 0.04%, while IT down by 1.29%, TECK down by 1.21%, Metal down by 1.16%,
Auto down by 1.13% and FMCG down by 1.03% were the top losing indices on BSE.

HCL Technologies: HCL’s share price fell 1.85% to close at
Rs 926.10 ahead of the company’s June quarter results.

Spandana Sphoorty Financial: Shares of the non-banking
lender fell 1.74% to close at Rs 424.00 after the micro-finance lender’s asset
quality deteriorated sharply in the March quarter and disbursements also
declined.

HFCL: Shares of HFCL surged 5.12% to close at Rs 65.75
after the company received a purchase order worth Rs 59.22 crore from a telecom

Eureka Forbes: The share price rose 12.06% to settle at Rs
415.30 after the company confirmed the appointment of former Jubilant Foodworks
chief executive officer (CEO) Pratik Pota as its new executive head. Pota has
been appointed as the managing dorector and CEO of the company for five years.
He will begin his term on August 16.

Rail Vikas Nigam: The stock price surged 1.95% to close at
Rs 31.60 after the RVNL-SP Singla Constructions Pvt Limited (Consortium) received
letter of acceptance (LoA) by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI)
for the four-laning of NH-5 from Kaithilighat as Shakral Village in Himachal
Pradesh on hybrid annuity mode. The cost of the project is Rs 1,844.77.
