The equity benchmark BSE Sensex surged 350.16 points or
0.61% to close at 57,953.65. The broader NSE Nifty gained 103.30 points or
0.60% to close at 17,325.30.

Among the sectors, except oil & gas, all other
indices settled with gains, pharma and realty indices up 1% each and the
capital goods index added 0.65%. BSE midcap and smallcap indices added 0.6%
each.

Here are the key stocks that moved most during today’s
trading session:

Hero MotoCorp: The share tanked 6.68% to close at Rs
2,219.00 as the market reacted adversely to the reports claiming that the
Income Tax Department found bogus expenses of around Rs 1,000 crore made by the
company. According to a report by CNBC-TV18, false expenses were found in the
I-T raid conducted from March 23 to March 26 at premises linked to Hero
MotoCorp. The company has not released any official statement yet.

Bharti Airtel: The stock price surged 2.79% to settle at
Rs 753.50 after the company along with the Nettle Infrastructure Investments,
had bought 12.71 shares of Indus Towers from an affiliate of the UK’s Vodafone
Group Plc for Rs 2,388.05 crore.

Ruchi Soya Industries: The share closed 15.19% higher at
Rs 938 after investors in Ruchi Soya’s Follow-on Public Offer (FPO) were
allowed to withdraw their bids because of an advertisement that market
regulator SEBI called misleading.

HDFC Bank: Shares of the private lender closed 1.76%
higher at Rs 1,458 after the bank said it had signed an agreement to invest Rs
3 crore in the first tranche to acquire a stake in debt management company
IDRCL. HDFC Bank has signed an agreement for investment in India Debt
Resolution Company Ltd (IDRCL) by way of subscription to equity securities, the
bank said in a regulatory filing.  

PNC Infratech: PNC Infratech shares ended 4.74% higher at
Rs 255 after the company said it is declared as the lowest bidder for a project
worth Rs 1,575 crore.
