Depending on where they are located, two separate companies own the Modelo beer brand.
Modelo is owned by Constellation Brands, whose chief executive officer is Bill Newlands, in the US.
Anheuser-Busch InBev is the owner of the well-known Mexican beer outside of the United States.

Retailers must get in touch with Anheuser-Busch InBev if they want to distribute the brand outside of the US, and distributors must do the same within of the US.
Anheuser-Busch InBev attempted to acquire the remaining interests in 2012, but by June 2013, both businesses had merged to form Grupo Modelo. They were still permitted to have their own distinct distribution rights, though.
Grupo Modelo, which also makes Corona, founded Modelo in 1925 in Tacuba, Mexico.
Modelo was one of the beers that benefited from the fact that South America could distribute alcoholic beverages during Prohibition while North America couldn’t.
The brand has produced four distinct iterations since it was initially bottled: Modelo Ore, Modelo Especial, Modelo Negra, and Modelo Chelada.
Modelo has also introduced its own flavored beverage called Agua Frescas, similar to many other beer brands. Even Modelo has products that may be purchased from participating retailers like Walmart.
