Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio added over 13 lakh and 20 lakh mobile subscribers, respectively, in November while Vodafone Idea (Vi) lost 18 lakh, according to l data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.

This is Jio’s second consecutive great month, following a 1.9 crore customer decrease in September. As of the end of November, Jio has 42.86 crore subscribers.

Airtel, too, regained ground after losing almost 5 lakh users in October. It attracted 13 lakh new wireless subscribers in November, bringing its overall client base to 35.52 crore.

Vodafone Idea’s client base fell to 26.71 crore after losing over 18 lakh customers. In rural regions, all three service providers experienced growth.

In November, the total number of wireless subscribers increased by 0.10%. At the conclusion of the month, the total number of wireless customers in the country stood at 116 crore.

With the exception of Gujarat, Mumbai, Delhi, Karnataka, Assam, Kolkata, Uttar Pradesh (East), and Haryana, all other service regions reported an increase in wireless customers in November.

 Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel increased their subscriber market shares to 36.71% (36.58%) and 30.43% (30.35%) in November, while Vi’s decreased to 22.88% (23.07%).

Visitor Location Register (VLR), a key metric reflecting the number of active subscribers on a mobile network, showed that 97.92% of users were active for Bharti Airtel, 86.69% for Vi and 83.9% for Jio in November.

The adjusted gross revenue (AGR) of the telecom industry rose 4.24% sequentially to Rs 53,510 crore for the July-September 2021 period. The access services or mobile services AGR of all private telcos – Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea – rose during the period, while that of state-run BSNL witnesses a drop, showed data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai).

Shares of Bharti Airtel were trading at Rs 707.50 down 0.92% while Vodafone Idea shares were down 1.24% at Rs 11.90 on the  BSE at 11:45 am.
