Indian equity benchmarks were trading higher in Tuesday’s afternoon session. Positive indications from other Asian markets with falling crude oil prices supported sentiments. The sentiments were further supported by the Indian rupee appreciating 8 paise at 82.73 per dollar. On the sectoral front, most of the sectoral indices on the BSE were trading in positive territory led by IT, Healthcare, TECK, Power, and Utilities.

The Sensex was trading at 61,111.05 up by 364.46 points or 0.60% after trading in a high-low range of 61,289.73 and 60,998.86. On the index, 24 stocks were advancing and 6 were declining.

The broader indices were trading green with the BSE Midcap index up by 0.72% and the Small-cap index up by 0.23%.

The top gaining sectoral indices on the BSE were IT up by 1.36%, Healthcare 1.33%, TECK 1.28%, Power 1.21%, and Utilities 1.07%. While Energy down by 0.26%, Auto 0.09%, and Oil & Gas 0.05% were the only losing sectoral indices on the BSE.

The top gainers on the Sensex were NTPC up by 4.27%, Dr. Reddy’s Lab 2.33%, Power Grid Corp 2.10%, TCS 1.94%, and HDFC 1.79%. On the flip side, Axis Bank down by 3.36%, Reliance Industries 1.01%, Tata Steel 0.74%, Maruti Suzuki 0.61%, and Titan Company 0.25% were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty was trading at 18,128.45 up by 116.20 points or 0.65% after trading in a high-low range of 18,175.80 and 18,084.90. On the index, 40 stocks were advancing, against 10 stocks declining.

The top gainers on Nifty were Divi’s Lab up by 5.07%, NTPC 4.33%, Adani Enterprises 2.41%, Dr. Reddy’s Lab 2.24%, and Grasim Industries Limited 2.16%. While Axis Bank down by 3.43%, Eicher Motors 1.97%, Reliance Industries 1.05%, UPL 0.77 and Tata Steel 0.69% were the top losers on the index.

Asian markets were trading higher, Nikkei 225 rose 0.33%, Shanghai Composite rose 2.38%, KOSPI Composite rose 1.81%, and Hang Sang rose 5.66%.
