Reliance Jio added 37.9 million subscribers in the past year, Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani said during the AGM on Thursday. He said Reliance Jio %u201Cnow serves over 425 milion consumers. We have revenue market leadership in 19 out of 22 circles.%u201D
During the Annual General Meeting, the company made several announcements, including new energy business plans. Ambani said, %u201CWorld has only one option of rapid transformation to green energy. Reliance will make its new energy business a truly global business.%u201D
Ambani-led Reliance Industries’ 44th Annual General Meeting (AGM) is being held online in view of the COVID-19 pandemic situations.
He also said that Green is the future, elaborating, %u201CThe age of fossil fuels which powere economic growth globally for nearly 3 centuries can not continue much longer.%u201D
Ambani also said that Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Chairman of Saudi Aramco will join the Board of Reliance Industries as Independent Director.
“We continue to be India’s largest merchandise exporter and remain the country’s highest payer of customs and excise duty in the private sector, ” said Ambani.
He also said that Reliance Industries Limited raised $44.4 billion, largest ever capital raise by any company in a year globally. This capital raise is a strong vote of confidence by global investors in India%u2019s growth potential.
