The Sensex climbed 465.14 points or 0.80% to finish at
58,853.07. During the day, it jumped 546.97 points or 0.93% to 58,934.90. The
Nifty gained 127.60 points or 0.73% to end at 17,525.10.

The broader indices ended in green with the BSE Midcap
index up by 0.31%, while the Small cap index was up by 0.28%. The top gaining
sectoral indices on the BSE were Capital Goods up by 2.00%, Power up by 1.92%,
Utilities up by 1.61%, Metal up by 1.27%, and Industrials up by 1.11%, while
Oil & Gas down by 0.03% was the only losing index on BSE.

Here are the key stocks that moved the most on August 8:

State Bank of India: The stock price fell 2.06% to close at
Rs 520.10 after the Chairman of SBI Dinesh Kumar Khara said that India’s
largest lender would benefit from improving margin due to a lag in deposit rate
hike even as lending rates see a quicker transmission with an increase in the
policy rate by RBI.

Zomato: The stock surged 1.74% to close at Rs 55.55 as
investors bought shares of the food delivery platform after the stock’s
weightage in FTSE indices was increased.

One97 Communications: The share price jumped 6.46% to close
at Rs 835 after the digital payments platform operator Paytm reported a
consolidated loss of Rs 645.4 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2023,
widening from a loss of Rs 381.9 crore in the corresponding quarter of the
previous fiscal. Revenue from operations rose by 88.5% to Rs 1,679.60 crore
during the reported quarter.

FSN E-Commerce Ventures: The stock price rose over 4% and
closed 0.27% high at Rs 1,415.00 after the parent of Nykaa posted a 42.24%
year-on-year increase in consolidated profit at Rs 5.01 crore for the quarter
ended June 30, 2022, aided by better topline and operating performance of the
cosmetics-to-fashion retailer. Revenue from operations for the period came in
at Rs 1,148.4 crore, reporting a 40.56% growth compared to the same quarter of
the previous financial year.

Oil and Gas stocks: Shares of oil and gas companies traded
mixed after some of them reported earnings in the week gone by while prices
fell near multi-month lows. While the shares of Reliance Industries (RIL)
closed 1.34% higher, Indian Oil Corporation was up by 0.34% while the shares of
Hindustan Petroleum ended 4.77% down, ONGC was 0.07% down and BPCL was down by
3.00%.
