Sensex surged 388.76 points or 0.70% to 56,247.28 and Nifty was up by 135.50 points or 0.81% to 16,793.90 in the previous session. Sensex touched high and low of 56,324.54 and 54,833.50, respectively. There were 17 stocks advancing against 13 stocks declining on the index. Nifty traded in a range of 16,815.90 and 16,356.30. There were 33 stocks advancing against 16 stocks declining, while 1 stock remained unchanged on the index.

The top gainers on the Sensex were Tata Steel up by 6.61%, Power Grid Corporation up by 6.03%, Reliance Industries up by 3.29%, Titan Company up by 3.11% and NTPC up by 2.46%. On the flip side, Dr Reddy’s Lab was down by 2.81%, Mahindra & Mahindra was down by 2.07%, Axis Bank was down by 2.05%, HDFC Bank was down by 1.99% and HDFC down by 1.56% were the top losers.

The top gainers on Nifty were Hindalco up by 7.16%, Tata Steel up by 6.33%, Power Grid Corporation up by 5.58%, JSW Steel up by 4.58% and BPCL up by 3.91%. On the flip side, HDFC Life Insurance down by 2.95%, Dr Reddy’s Lab down by 2.67%, Axis Bank down by 2.16%, Mahindra & Mahindra down by 2.04% and HDFC Bank down by 1.87% were the top losers.  

Birla Cable Limited, CyberMedia (India) Limited, Dangee Dums Limited, Fine Organic Industries Limited, and Genesys International Corporation Limited have made fresh 52 weeks high on Monday.

Aegis Logistics Limited, Asian Hotels (West) Limited, AIA Engineering Limited, Axis Mutual Fund – Axis Healthcare ETF, and Berger Paints (I) Limited have hit a 52-week low on Monday.

IDEA, YESBANK, GTLINFRA, JPPOWER, PNB, SUZLON, ADANIPOWER, SAIL, ZOMATO, BHEL were the most active equities on NSE.

ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund – ICICI Prudential Consumption ETF, Nippon India Mutual Fund – Nippon India Nifty Pharma ETF, Edelweiss Mutual Fund – BHARAT Bond ETF – April 2025, Future Supply Chain Solutions Limited, and Ganesh Benzoplast Limited were the top volume gainers.
