The Sensex tumbled 390.58  points or 0.68% to 57,235.33 while the Nifty was down by 109.25  points or 0.64% to end at 17,014.35  at the close of trading on Thursday.

The Sensex moved in a high and low band of 57,568.14 and 57,055.75. There were 7 stocks advancing against 23 stocks declining on the index.

The Nifty traded in a range of 17,112.35 and 16,956.95. There were 12stocks advancing against 36 stocks declining on the index while 2 stocks remained stable.

The broader indices ended in red; the BSE MidCap index declined 0.73%, while the SmallCap index was down by 0.45%. There were only two gaining sectoral indices on the BSE, Healthcare by 0.17% and Metal by 0.13%. On the flip side, the top losing indices on BSE were, Capital Goods by 1.22%, Bankex by 1.21%, Financial Services by 1.13%, Realty by 1.08% and Industrials by 0.98%.

The top gainers on the Sensex were HCL Technologies by 3.19%, Sun Pharma by 1.36%, Reliance Industries by 0.37%, Dr. Reddy’s Lab by 0.23% and Ultratech Cement by 0.08%. While the top losers on the index were Wipro by 7.03%, SBI by 2.36%, Larsen & Toubro by 1.85%, ICICI Bank by 1.60% and Asian Paints by 1.12%.

The top gainers on the Nifty were HCL Technologies by 3.05%, Sun Pharma by 1.30%, Coal India Limited by 0.84%, Dr. Reddy’s Lab by 0.66% and Tata Motors by 0.62%.  While the top losers were Wipro by 6.95%, Adani Ports &SEZ by 2.29%, SBI by 2.23%, SBI Life Insurance by 2.08% and ICICI Bank by 1.65%.

Hindcon Chemicals Limited, Pennar Industries Limited, RITES Limited, Zenith Exports Limited, and Liberty Shoes Limited hit their 52-week high on Thursday.

Wipro Limited, Tips Films Limited, Technocraft Industries (India) Limited, Akshar Spintex Limited, and Madhav Marbles and Granites Limited touched a 52-week low on Thursday.

Suzlon Energy Limited, Excel Realty N Infra Limited, Kalyan Jewellers India Limited, National Aluminium Company Limited and Jaiprakash Power Ventures Limited were the most active equities on NSE.

The top volume gainers were Aditya Birla Money Limited, Astec LifeSciences Limited, Plastiblends India Limited, Aarey Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Limited, and India Motor Parts and Accessories Limited.

Liberty Shoes Limited, Rama Steel Tubes Limited, United Polyfab Gujarat Limited, Zenith Exports Limited, and Tree House Education and Accessories Limited hit their upper price band.

Debock Industries Limited, Simplex Infrastructures Limited, JBF Industries Limited, Asian Hotels (East) Limited, and Akshar Spintex Limited, hit their lower price band. There were 54 securities that hit the upper band while 49 hit the lower band on October 13, 2022.
