The Sensex fell 200.18 points or 0.34% to 57,991.11 while the Nifty was down by 73.65 points or 0.43% to 17,241.00 at the close of trading on Monday.

The Sensex moved in a high and low band of 58,125.01 and 57,365.68. There were 11 stocks advancing against 19 stocks declining on the index.

The Nifty traded in a range of 17,280.15 and 17,064.70. There were 15 stocks advancing against 35 stocks declining on the index.

The broader indices ended in red with the BSE mid-cap index down by 0.87% and the Small cap index up by 0.58%. The gaining sectoral indices on the BSE were IT up by 0.91% and TECK up by 0.73%, while on the downside Consumer Durables by 1.43%, Power by 1.30%, Utilities by 1.12%, FMCG by 1.01% and Realty by 0.98% were the top losing indices on BSE.

The top gainers on the Sensex were Axis Bank by 2.76%, TCS by 1.84%, Maruti Suzuki by 0.94%, Wipro by 0.77% and Infosys by 0.75%. Whereas Asian Paints by 1.99%, Titan Company by 1.86%, ITC by 1.80%, Reliance Industries by 1.13% and HDFC Bank by 1.06% were the top losers.

The top gainers on the Nifty were Axis Bank by 3.04%, TCS by 1.93%, HDFC Life Insurance by 1.22%, Wipro by 1.18% and Eicher Motors by 1.13%. On the downside, Tata Motors by 3.79%, Tata Consumer Product by 2.84%, Hero MotoCorp by 2.03%, Asian Paints by 1.91% and ITC by 1.78% were the top losers.

Apollo Sindoori Hotels Limited, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited, Axita Cotton Limited, De Nora India Limited, and Vindhya Telelinks Limited hit their 52-week high on Monday.

Akshar Spintex Limited, Tips Films Limited, HDFC Mutual Fund, Kriti Nutrients Limited, Piramal Enterprises Limited, Debock Industries Limited, and Tips Films Limited touched a 52-week low on Monday.

Tata Motors Ltd, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, Axis Bank Ltd, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, and HDFC Bank Ltd were the most active equities on NSE.

The top volume gainers were Universus Photo Imagings Limited, Universus Photo Imagings Limited, Industrial Investment Trust Limited, Kotak Nifty IT ETF, and ICRA Limited.

Reliance Infrastructure Limited, Axita Cotton Limited, D B Realty Limited, De Nora India Limited and RattanIndia Power Limited hit their upper price band.

Adani Green Energy Limited, Som Distilleries and Breweries Limited, Vinyl Chemicals (India) Limited, Tilaknagar Industries Limited and GTL Infrastructure Limited hit their lower price band. There were 74 securities that hit the upper band while 87 hit the lower band on October 10, 2022.
