Weisselberg, who has worked for the former US president Donald Trump since 1973, will be charged at a lower Manhattan courthouse later Thursday.
This comes a day after the Manhattan grand jury filed indictments, which will be unsealed at 2 pm (ET) on Thursday, CNN reported. However, the nature and number of charges is presently unknown.
Trump faced several inquiries when he was the president, however, this is the first time that his company is expected to face criminal charges. The company might face charges over its conduct when Trump led it.
However, the former president himself will not be indicted, the media outlet reported quoting his attorney.
The probe, which will result in Thursday’s indictment, was conducted over two years by the district attorney, Cyrus Vance Jr. It began with the probe into hush-money payments by Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen.
It then led to the probe into a set of possible violations by the Trump Organisation, such as misleading lenders and tax frauds. Recently, the investigation shifted towards the company’s taxes on benefits and Weisselberg came in the centre of it all.
And the person who helped the prosecutors to gather information against him was his former daughter-in-law, Jennifer Weisselberg.
If Trump’s top executive is indicted, it’ll pressure on him to cooperate with the authorities in their investigation of Trump.
