Speaking on the third day of the Democratic National Convention, Singer Billie Eilish asked Americans to “vote like our lives and the world depend on it, because they do.” She added that the only way to be certain of the future is to make it ourselves. She also performed her new song “My future.”

Eilish was introduced by host Kerry Washington. She talked about the efforts of the singer to reduce the carbon footprint left by her tours. Eilish began her speech stating that President Donald Trump is destroying the country and everything that one cares about.

“You don’t need me to tell you things are a mess — Donald Trump is destroying our country and everything we care about,” she said. Eilish also said that the country needs leaders who will solve problems like climate change and COVID — and not the ones who deny them.

“We need leaders who will fight against systemic racism and inequality,”  Eilish said. She said this process can only begin by voting for someone who understands the seriousness of the issue and can build a team that shares similar values. And that according to her means “voting against Donald Trump and for Joe Biden.”
