Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos will step down from his current position on July 5. He will be succeeded by businessman Andy Jazzy Bezos on Wednesday that he will hand over operational control to his successor on leaving as the e-commerce giant flexes its muscles in television and cloud.  

Who is Andy Jassy?

The upcoming CEO of Amazon, Andy Jassy is an American business. He was previously the CEO of Amazon Webs services and led the services since its establishment in 2003  He is also one of the minority owners of the Seattle Kraken of the National Hockey League.

Jassy is a Harvard alumnus who graduated with honours and cum laude. He was also the business manager of ‘The Harvard Crimson’. The Harvard Crimson is the daily student newspaper of Harvard University

His father is a lawyer and a senior partner at a New York-based corporate law firm Dewey Ballantine. He worked for 5 years after graduation before entering his MBA program. He worked as a project manager for a collectibles company, MBI, and then he and an MBI colleague started a company that was closed down.

The 53-year-old businessman isn’t a clone of Jeff Bezos. He has a powerful antenna for subordinates’ hyperbole and is known for asking probing questions that get to the heart of the problem. At the same time, he is unpretentious and quickly makes friends with coworkers.

Unlike his predecessor, Jassy also believed in engagement with society and it was proven by his unequivocal declaration that Black lives matter in a keynote address at Amazon.  

Jassy joined Amazon in 1997, with several other Harvard MBA colleagues and his previous roles include marketing manager.
