Singers Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes called it quits after two years of dating. They made an announcement with similar posts on social media. In the joint statement, the pair wrote: "Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever. We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward."
Camila and Mendes' friendship dates back to 2014 when the both of them, separately, opened for the Austin Mahone tour. Rumors of them being in a relationship picked up pace after their steamy 'Senorita' video.

2014 – Austin Mahone tour
Mendes and Camila met during the opening of the Mahone tour. In their June 2019 V magazine digital cover, the duo talked about their first impressions of one another. “I remember I wanted to hang out with you, but you were always on the tour bus, just learning guitar,” Cabello said, to which Mendes replied, “Yeah, that was me. I didn’t talk to anybody. You were the only person that talked to me. Like, you were the only one of everybody on that tour who would say words to me. Actually, I think if we go into our DM’s or something, there’s a photo from the day we met, I think.”
April 2015 – Mendes chooses Camila in a round of “Lips, Wife or Leave It”
In a UK radio show, he was asked to choose among Camila, Jade Thirlwall and Chloe Grace Moretz. He picked Cabello and said that she would make a good wife.
