Actor and former Miss India Universe Celina Jaitly congratulated Adline Castelino for securing the fourth spot at the Miss Universe pageant this year. In an Instagram post, the ‘Janasheen’ actor said, "while it took India two decades to reach this position again, it's good to see that we are ‘back in the game’".
Celina wrote, “When I became Ms Universe 2001 - Runners Up, I did not realise it would take 20 years for India to reach this position again,” she wrote, adding, “Hearty congratulations to @adline_castelinofficial on nailing the runners up for India." She posted a photo of herself from her Miss Universe days along with Adline's.
The Miss Universe 2020 pageant was cancelled last year due to restrictions placed in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, which finally took place in Florida's Miami on Sunday.
Mexico's Andrea Meza won the title of Miss Universe 2020 at the gala event. On the other hand, Miss India Universe Adline was appreciated on social media for her smart answers in the final question and answer round.
Adline was asked, "if lockdown should be imposed due to COVID-19 despite the strain on the economies, or should they open the borders and risk a potential increase in infection rates?" To which, the Indian model replied saying, "I have realised something very important, that nothing is more important than the health of your loved ones, and you have to draw a balance between economy and health."
Adline was appreciated in the Universe stage from people across spheres for wearing a six-yard saree, which was inspired by the national flower of India- lotus, as a part of the national costume competition.
