Cyclone Nivar: 3 killed in Tamil Nadu, essential services restored
- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami had declared Thursday a public holiday for 13 districts
- Wednesday was already declared a holiday
- Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to chief ministers of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry
Cyclone Nivar has claimed three lives and injured further three in the state of Tamil Nadu, ANI reported quoting state officials. Officials also confirmed that the essential services have been restored.
"3 deaths and 3 people injured.101 huts damaged, and 380 fallen trees removed. There is a complete restoration of essential services", Atulya Mishra,Tamil Nadu Additional Chief Secretary said.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami had declared Thursday a public holiday for 13 districts including Chennai, Vellore, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Chengelpet and Kancheepuram considering the safety of people in view of the cyclone. Wednesday was already declared a holiday.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to chief ministers of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and assured them of all possible help from the Centre in the wake of severe cyclonic storm Nivar.
