Australian opener David Warner on Monday chose to congratulate Indian skipper Virat Kohli for the latter was declared as the ICC Male Player of the Decade.
Social media started exploding after Kohli bagged the Sir Garfield Sobers award. However, amongst the thousand other wishes pouring from players, experts and fans, David Warner made sure his 'congratulations message' stands out. The New South Wales batsman posted video on Instagram, with his face morphed on Virat Kohli, as a montage of many of the Indian captain's best moments played.
"😂😂No one will guess the player of the decade 👏👏👏 @virat.kohli," David Warner captioned the Instagram post.
Warner was ruled out of the Border-Gavaskar trophy owing to a groin injury. While coach Justin Langer is hopeful to see the regular opener participate in the third test match, he has been spending some time with his family in Sydney. One thing that one cannot discount David Warner for is his presence on Social media. From dancing and posting Tiktok videos and Instagram reels the Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper has off lately started posting popular Bollywood scenes with his face in place of the actor's.
Meanwhile, Virat–back in India for the birth of his first child– was also awarded the ICC Male ODI Player of the Decade. The RCB skipper is the only player to be included in all the teams (ODI, T20, and Test) of the decade announced by ICC.
"My only intention was to make winning contributions for the team and I just strive to do that in every game. Stats just become the byproduct of what you want to do on the field," Kohli said on receiving the award in a virtual ceremony.
