In view of a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases around the country,
the Gautam Budh Nagar district administration on Thursday announced the closure of all schools, colleges, coaching institutions till April 17, except those imparting medical training. The prohibition will be in place from 10 pm to 5 am, reported
news agency ANI. Schools in Noida would remain closed for the same time period.

“It has been decided to impose night curfew from 10 pm to 5
am in Ghaziabad district. The order comes into effect from tonight”, ANI quoted
Ghaziabad DM Ajay Shankar Pandey as saying.

Reportedly, all private educational institutions, including coaching
institutes (except medical, para medical and nursing institutions) would be
closed till April 17, 2021.

The movement of all essential services, however, have been
exempted.

Other cities in Uttar Pradesh, such as Lucknow, Varanasi,
Prayagraj and Kanpur too have placed restrictions.

The curfew, in Lucknow, will be in place between 9 pm to 6
am.

“In Lucknow, all government, non-government or privately
managed schools, colleges and educational institutions and coaching institutes
are closed, except medical, nursing and para-medical institutes, with immediate
effect for the control of COVID-19 infection by Aril 15, 2021”, District
Magistrate of Lucknow tweeted out on Wednesday.

The Twitter handle of Gautam Budh Nagar District Magistrate,
on the other hand, put out a set of COVID-appropriate behaviours, Frequently Asked
Questions (FAQs), and challenges faced by residents in the area.
