The Ryerson University’s The Creative School is set to launch a new course which is bound to grab student’s attention from all over the world. A course called “Deconstructing
Drake & The Weeknd” will be taught by Professor in Residence, Dalton
Higgins.

The students will be able to enroll for the course during the winter
semester which will commence in January, 2022.

The students will be taught about the lives of the two artists and conduct
an in-depth study of the Toronto born musical phenomenon Drake and the Weeknd,
as announced by the university in a new release.

Higgins
took to popular social media platform, Instagram in order to express his
excitement for the course. He wrote, “Real talk, I’ve been lecturing about hip hop and
popular culture at North American universities, – including all the local ones;
University of Toronto, York University, etc.- for the last decade. When I
wasn’t doing that, I was pushing Hip Hop Pedagogy in high schools, writing
chapters and lesson plans for various hip hop textbooks.”

Dalton added, “But the real fun & deep
learning has only really just begun as I’ll be teaching a course about two
Toronto-born music titans; Drake & The Weeknd in early 2022.”

The professor who is an author
and podcaster has taught black music and hip hop at several universities and
also written six books on the topic.

Aubrey
Graham, better known by his stage name Drake is a popular rapper, singer, songwriter
and actor. He is amongst the world’s best selling music artists.

The winner of
four Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards and a big winner of 29 Billboard
Music Awards has the most top 10 singles as well as the most Hot 100 debuts in
one week on the music charts. It is nearly impossible to state all of his
records.

While Abel
Tesfaye, professionally known as the Weeknd is an influential figure in the
music industry. He has three Grammy awards to his name and was listed as one of
the world’s most influential people by Time.
