Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on June 1, in a tweet, announced that the CBSE class 12 exams were cancelled due to uncertain COVID-19 situations in the country. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by PM Modi.
“In view of the uncertain conditions due to COVID-19…it was decided that Class XII Board Exams would not be held this year,” the Centre said in a statement.
Although it is fully not clear how the scores will be given or the marks will be calculated, the Centre said, %u201Cthe class 12 results will be made as per well-defined objective criteria in a time-bound manner.%u201D

Commenting on the cancellation, PM Modi said that a student-friendly decision was taken. “Health, the safety of students of utmost importance, and there would be no compromise on that aspect,” he said.
He also said that due to the uncertain situation induced by COVID, students should not be forced to appear for the examinations.
