For prioritising skills development among students in terms of the National
Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Karnataka Department of Higher Education and
Information Technology (IT) major Infosys will enter into a third memorandum of
understanding (MoUs) soon, Higher Education Minister Dr CN Ashwatha Narayana
said at a meeting.

The decision
was taken at a meeting hosted by Infosys chief executive and chaired by CN
Ashwatha Narayana in Vikasa Soudha on Tuesday.

The Minister
announced that the MoUs will assist the Karnataka government to implement the
‘Infosys Springboard’, which contains more than 3,000 college skills
development courses, Campus Connect ‘digital education and professional guidance
for students, and a donation of 15,000 computers to colleges from Infosys.

“‘Infosys
Springboard’ is an integrated digital literacy platform comprising effective
digital learning solutions, technology-based life skill courses, gamification,
live classes, industry certification, maker’s lab, carrier guidance,” he
explained.

“Introduction
of gesture computing and biometrics for smart classrooms, utilising virtual
reality and augmented reality for training and linking learning data with
performance outcome, utilising gamification and design principles to create
healthy competition among students, utilising automation and robotic tools to
create content will be part of the MoU,” he added.

He added
that under the three MoUs the National Education Policy (NEP) community is
trying to facilitate the exchange of good practices in institutions.

Narayana
feels that implementation of NEP 2020 will be mentored and guided by the
institutions.

“Institutions
will be mentored and guided towards the implementation of the NEP framework and
collaboration will be established between KDEM (Karnataka Digital Economy
Mission) and Infosys to achieve talent acceleration,” he added.

Earlier, the
Tamil Nadu government signed 24 memorandum of understanding (MoUs) and industry
that would bring 1 2,120.54 crore to investment and create jobs for more than
41,000 people.

MoUs were
signed, in front of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, at the Tamil Nadu Exports
Conclave organized here as part of ‘Trade and Commerce Week’ from September
20-26 is celebrated across the country to commemorate the 75th Independence Day
