The National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking 2021 were released on Thursday by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan through a webcast on the official website NIRF i.e. nirfindia.org. The ranking include a separate list of top colleges, best medical colleges, top 25 universities, best MBA institutes, and top engineering colleges.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras occupies the top spot among institutes in the country, while the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru ranked the best among research institutions, according to the Ministry of Education’s NIRF ranking.

In the sixth edition of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), eight IITs and two national Institutes of Technology (NITs) figured in the top ten engineering institutions in the country.

The Ahmedabad ‘s Indian Institute of Management (IIM) ranked the best B-School, while Jamia Hamdard was declared the top institution for pharmacy studies.

Now if we talk about college ranking, Miranda House in Delhi ranked the first rank followed by Lady Sri Ram College for Women, Delhi and Loyola College, Chennai.

As per the NIRF ranking, AIIMS Delhi was declared the top spot among medical colleges followed by PGIMER Chandigarh and Christian Medical College, Vellore.

The registered number of Indian institutes has increased as compared to previous years. The NIRF ranking 2020 had increased by 20% as compared to 2019. Last year, around 3,800 educational institutes had participated in NIRF rankings.

The NIRF shortlisted the institutes on the basis of teaching, learning and resources (TLR), research and professional practice (RP), graduation outcomes (GO), outreach and inclusivity (OI), peer perception.

Last year, NIRF ranking were released in an online format as a result of the Covid-19. IIT Madras was judged by India’s top institution 2020 (overall category) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore was the top university followed by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
