Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday tweeted that the state board exams for classes 10 and 12 have been postponed amid a surge in COVID-19 cases. The decision comes after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday cancelled the exams for class 10 and postponed that of class 12.

In addition, exams for classes 8, 9 and 11 in Rajasthan have been cancelled. Students will be promoted to the next classes without assessment this year, Gehlot said.

The Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan, had announced to promote students from classes 1 to 7 without exams on Monday.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Ashok Gehlot-led Rajasthan government has decided to impose a night curfew from 6 pm to 5 am in the entire state from April 16. The night curfew was declared earlier in 10 urban areas of the state.

Rajasthan on Wednesday recorded the highest single-day spike of 6,200 new COVID-19 cases and 29 fatalities that took the state’s infection tally to 381,292 and the death toll to 3,008, according to the data released by the health department, reports PTI.
