The civil services preliminary 2020 examination held by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will be held on Sunday amid the COVID-19 pandemic. It was earlier scheduled for May 31 but got postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. On June 5, UPSC had announced that it will conduct the prelims examination on October 4 at 2,569 centres across 72 cities in the country. More than 10.58 lakh candidates have applied for the examination this year.

The UPSC Mains exam will be conducted on January 8, 2021 while Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination 2020 will be held on February 28, 2021.

The Delhi Metro has announced to start its services from 6 am on Sunday to facilitate the aspirants. The exam will start at around 9.30 am.

The applications for UPSC civil services exam process are invited in the month of January/February and candidates are asked to fill up the application form up to March. The preliminary examination is conducted in the months of April/May while the Main examination is conducted in June.

As per the new exam guidelines candidates should note that there will be penalty (negative marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers.
