An FIR has
been registered against television actor Shweta Tiwari, after the actor landed
in trouble for an inappropriate remark.

The fiasco began at a
press conference in Bhopal, where the actor was promoting her upcoming web
series ‘Show Stopper’, along with other members of the cast. During the
event, Tiwari joked about god taking measurements of her brassiere, stating in
Hindi, “Meri bra ka size bhagwan le rahe hain.”

The remark soon went
viral, and many expressed their disapproval. Madhya Pradesh Home Minister
Narottam Mishra demanded an FIR and a full-blown investigation of the incident.
Speaking to reporters, the minister added, “I have seen and heard Shweta
Tiwari‘s statement. I condemn it. I have instructed the Bhopal Police Commissioner
to investigate and submit a report to me soon. Action will be taken after
that.”

An FIR has now been
filed against Tiwari for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. A case has
been filed under Section 295(A) of the Indian Penal Code at the Shyamla Hills
police station in Bhopal.  

Tiwari was present at
the launch event along with co-stars Rohit Roy, Salil Acharya and Sourabh Raaj
Jain. Jain has previously played Lord Krishna in ‘Mahabharat’, an epic
television drama.

Actor Salil Acharya
also responded to the controversy. In conversation with ETimes, the actor
clarified that the remark was “taken out of context”. He added, “I was on stage
with Shweta when this happened. I was asking a question to actor Sourabh Raaj
Jain who plays a bra fitter in the web series. I had asked him that, for a
person who has played mythological roles in the past, how was it playing
something so different. In a funny way, Shweta said that now we are making god
do this. When she said god, she meant Sourabh because he is known for his
mythological roles.”

Tiwari’s
upcoming web series ‘Show Stopper’ revolves around the overt glitz and glamour
of the fashion industry and offers a closer look of the dark reality behind
fashion runways.
