Lucknow Super Giants franchise was in new trouble after their clash with Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday. LSG skipper KL Rahul and all-rounder Marcus Stoinis were served with new punishments after being found guilty of violating the Code of Conduct of the Indian Premier League.

Just days before the new penalty, KL Rahul was given a fine worth Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate against Mumbai Indians, a match LSG ended up winning.

The new fine will cost LSG captain KL Rahul 20% of his per match fee, the event organisers ruled, according to a statement issued by the Indian Premier League a day after the match. KL Rahul had “accepted the sanction.”

The statement read, “Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul has been fined 20 percent of his match fee for breaching the TATA Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai.”

It added, “Mr Rahul admitted to the Level 1 offence of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction.”

In case the slow over-rate is observed two more times in the ongoing season, KL Rahul can reportedly face a one-game ban, media reports suggest.

All-rounder Marcus Stoinis was “reprimanded” by the organisers for his unusual reaction after getting dismissed by RCB’s Josh Hazelwood. Stoinis scored 24 runs in 15 deliveries.
