Draymond Green
Jordan Poole
Answer: Stephen Curry
Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2022 NBA Finals earlier this month. Golden State Warriors defeated Boston Celtics with a tally of 103-90 to win their seventh overall NBA champions title.
The 2022 NBA Finals saw Stephen Curry play in a game that was nothing short of an emotional rollercoaster. He had a dominant 43-point performance in Game 4 of the championships that will undoubtedly go down in history.
He had difficult days, too. In Game 5, which was a vital game, he had his worst NBA Finals performance, scoring only 15 points. Curry added 34 points to the score in Game 6 despite not having that baggage.
Following the Golden State Warriors’ victory against the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 of the Western Conference finals, Curry was also given the first-ever Conference finals MVP award.
“We found a way to just get it done,” Curry said after the Warriors accepted the championship trophy and celebrated on the court. “It’s part of a championship pedigree, our experience. … We built this for 10-11 years. That means a lot when you get to this stage.”
The Boston Celtics started well and quickly built a 14-2 lead thanks to the energised TD Garden crowd.
Golden State didn’t let the setback get to them and answered with a 35-8 run that lasted into the second quarter and helped them increase their lead to as much as 22 points. As some Celtics supporters booed the home team as they departed the field, the Warriors outscored the Celtics 27-17 for the period and led 54-39 going into the second half.
