The release date of Amitabh Bachchan’s Jhund is out and the film will hit the theatres on March 4. The release of the film was postponed due to the novel coronavirus.

Jhund is directed by Nagraj Manjule and is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Raaj Hiremath, Savita Hiremath, Nagraj Manjule, Gargee Kulkarni, and Meenu Arora under the banner of T-Series, Tandav Films Entertainment Pvt.Ltd and Aatpat Films.

Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan will be seen playing the role of Vijay Barse in the biographical sports drama.

The actor announced the release date of the film on his Instagram handle and wrote, “Iss toli se muqaabla karne ke liye raho taiyaar! Humari team aa rahi hai #Jhund releasing on 4th March 2022 in cinemas near you.”

The trailer of the film was released in 2020. The teaser of the film showed Big B as Vijay Barse, founder of the NGO Slum Soccer, an organisation that uplifts underprivileged children through football. In the teaser, he was heard saying, “Jhund nahi kahiye sir, team kahiye, team,” which was followed by a group of children walking towards what appeared to be a warehouse.

The film was first announced in February 2019 and was supposed to hit the theatres on May 8, 2020, but it was postponed on account of the pandemic.

Shooting for Jhund began in December 2018 at Nagpur and the film was wrapped up in August 2019.This is the second collaboration of Akash, Rinku and Nagraj after their Marathi film Sairat in 2016. 

The film was scheduled for release on 20 September 2019 and the date was tweeted by Taran Adarsh, film critic and trade analyst.  This was postponed to 13 December 2019. After the film’s release was postponed several times due to the pandemic, it is finally rescheduled for 4 March 2022.
