Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann was relieved when his side beat second-placed Borussia Dortmund 3-1, winning the club’s 10th Bundesliga title in a row.

The manager, who came from RB Leipzig said, “It felt great. I know how important it was to win it today”, adding, “It moves the season into a better light. It is my first major title as well so it feels great”, Reuters reported.

Bayern’s victory assures they are 12 points clear of Dortmund and have three games remaining, which essentially guarantees the club its only major season win.

Nagelsmann said, “It was not an easy season I have to say”, continuing, “I am not one to complain but a lot of things happened and we had setbacks. So I am happy to have won it. Had we not won today we would have to handle an unnecessary setback.”

At 34, he’s become the second-youngest coach to win the Bundesliga.

Unfortunately, Nagelsmann’s Champions League luck didn’t hold out as well. The German giants crashed out in a shock defeat to a gritty Villarreal side, that won on a 2-1 aggregate. The Bayern coach faced death threats after that as fans were clearly unhappy with the club’s trajectory. ‘

Thus, the Bundesliga win is sure to give some respite, which Nagelsmann echoed, when he said “It has not been an easy season so that is why I am happy that we sealed it with the league title”.

He added, “Next season I will be feeling the same pressure if not more and hopefully we are more successful in two of the three competitions and then also win the 11th straight league title.”

Serge Gnabry and Robert Lewandowski scored in the first half of the game, and Bayern cemented the win with a late goal from Jamal Musiala.
