'Break My Soul' is the first single from the singer's seventh project 'Renaissance', which is scheduled to release on July 29.
On Monday morning, the 28-time Grammy Award winner changed her Instagram bio to “6. BREAK MY SOUL midnight ET." The single is the sixth track on the album..She, however, surprised her fans by dropping the song three hours early. 'Renaissance' is her first solo album in six years, since 2016's 'Lemonade.'
Last week, Tidal, a streaming service once co-owned by her husband, Jay-Z, teased details of an upcoming creative project from Beyoncé.
While speaking of her upcoming project in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar last year, the singer mentioned the word "renaissance" and also spoke to the album's themes.
“With all the isolation and injustice over the past year, I think we are all ready to escape, travel, love, and laugh again. I feel a renaissance emerging, and I want to be part of nurturing that escape in any way possible,” she said.
During the same interview, she spoke about creating music.
"I’ve been in the studio for a year and a half. it takes a year for me to personally search through thousands of sounds to find just the right kick or snare," she said.
"One chorus can have up to 200 stacked harmonies. Still, there’s nothing like the amount of love, passion, and healing that I feel in the recording studio. After 31 years, it feels just as exciting as it did when I was nine years old. Yes, the music is coming!"
