Fashion magazine Vogue is set to feature Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II on its cover as a tribute to the monarch’s Platinum Jubilee of reigning over the British throne.
The tribute marks the Queen’s debut on the cover of British Vogue. A monochromatic black-and-white photograph dating back to her early years will be featured on the cover. The photograph was captured by British photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones. Jones was married to Queen Elizabeth’s sister Princess Margaret.
“British Vogue pays special tribute to Her Majesty The Queen by looking back on its own unique relationship with the Monarch during her seventy years on the throne,” Vogue in a statement, according to a report by Reuters.
The photograph marks the Queen’s first time being on a magazine cover. Previously, she featured in an illustrative form in 1947 when she married Prince Phillip, and in 1997 for her Silver Jubilee.
The Vogue April issue has two covers, with the other one featuring ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ actor Anya Taylor-Joy wearing a replica of the Diamond Diadem as “her own fantasy dress-up moment”. She was photographed by Craig McDean.
The Royal family shared the picture of Queen Elizabeth on their Twitter handle.

“Over the next 70 days, as we countdown to the Platinum Jubilee Central Weekend, we’ll be sharing an image a day of The Queen each representing a year of Her Majesty’s 70-year long reign,” they wrote.

“1952: Just twenty days after The Queen’s Accession to the throne, Her Majesty sat for her first official photographs. Taken by Dorothy Wilding, the photographs were used as the basis for Her Majesty’s image on new coins, banknotes and stamps,” they added.
Queen Elizabeth took over the throne on February 6, 1952, and was coronated on June 2, 1953. According to media reports, the United Kingdom will commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a four-day celebration across the country.
