With the Union Budget 2022, the Finance
Ministry is taking a greener step by turning it into a paperless exercise. The
ministry has launched an app that allows the budget to be presented
instantly. 

The Union Budget 2022 will be presented
by the Union Finance & Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on
February 1 at 11 am. The app is available on Android’s Google Play Store and
Apple’s iOS App Store for download.

Where to find the Union Budget mobile app?

The budget will be presented in a
paperless format for the first time. Members of Parliament (MPs) and the
general public can now access budget papers in a hassle-free manner on the new
“Union Budget Mobile App”. After the completion of the budget presenting
process on February 1, the Union Budget 2022 will be available on the mobile
app.

The mobile app is multilingual (English
& Hindi) and is available for Android and iOS users. Users should
cross-check that the publisher of the app is National Informatics Centre.

The finance ministry’s statement said
the app can also be downloaded from the Union Budget web portal (www.indiabudget.gov.in).

budget documents from the Union Budget web portal (www.indiabudget.gov.in).

The app provides access to 14 Union
Budget documents, including the Budget speech, Annual Financial Statement
(commonly known as Budget), Demand for Grants (DG) and Finance Bill. All the
documents can be accessed in PDF format in both Hindi and English.

This year, given the Omicron concerns,
the finance ministry has altered the Halwa ceremony ritual to just sweets. This
ceremony is conducted to mark the final stage of the budget-making
process.

Finance Minister
Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget 2022 in Parliament on February
1 at 11 am. The Budget, also known as the annual financial statement, is an
account of the government’s estimated receipts and expenditures for the fiscal
year which runs from April 1 to March 31. According to Article 112 of the
Constitution, a budget must be approved by Parliament.
