Chris Cuomo has so far been unspecific about his involvement in his brother and former New York governor, Andrew Cuomo’s sexual harassment case. However, now reports have confirmed that Chris spoke to his brother prior to the latter’s resignation but wasn’t acting in an official capacity at the time.

The New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office released footage that shows Chris admitting to advising his brother while suggesting how he should tackle the increasing number of sexual harassment claims against him.

Cuomo can be seen justifying his stance, in the video, saying, “It wasn’t this tactical, what do you do, what do you not do. If you ask me a question, I will give you an answer. You want my take on how something is playing, I’ll tell you. But I’m not part of his team and I wasn’t part of manipulation of any kind. For me, it was the way you would probably talk to your siblings. It was very important to me that my brother not suggest that everything that happened was OK just because he meant it in a benign way, that that’s not how it works”.

The besieged CNN journalist also added that he’d advised his brother after a set of allegations, saying the following, “Tell the truth and you tell it now. And I remember other people being more deliberative about it.”

Further footage from the deposition shows how Chris leveraged his position in CNN to gather information about stories that were in the pipeline. Particularly, Chris used his resources to get the news on a Ronan Farrow story in the works, and about one of Andrew’s accusers. He’d also asked Melissa DeRosa, one of the governor’s top aides, to help respond to the allegations.

Video of the deposition also shows Chris admitting that he spoke regularly to his brother and his staff about how the then-governor was handling New York City’s COVID-19 situation. There’s also a mention of Alec Baldwin wanting to come on and do a segment on ‘cancel culture’ as a response to the accusations Andrew faced.

Andrew Cuomo resigned in August 2021, and Chris was axed from his CNN position due to his involvement.
