Manchester
United players are ‘concerned’ over the lack of clarity surrounding the
managerial position at Old Trafford, according to BBC Sport.

Sunday’s 4-1
derby humiliation
at Manchester City was the latest in a string of embarrassing
results for the Red Devils this season as their hopes for Champions League qualification
continues to fade away.

This,
instead of challenging for titles after a considerable summer outlay that saw
players like Rafael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo arrive, has left
the fans increasingly frustrated and will deliver a major blow to the clubs’
future prospects.

While the
defeat at the Etihad was only United’s second under interim manager Ralf
Rangnick, they have won just eight of the 18 games since the German’s
appointment in December.

Rangnick has
admitted United cannot “can almost not drop any more points” in their final 10
Premier League games if they are to finish in the top four spots, as clubs like
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are hot on their heels and having played fewer
games.

But with trips
to the Gunners and rivals Liverpool, as well as home games against Spurs and Chelsea
among their final fixtures, it is hard to see the Red Devils not dropping any
points. And failure to qualify for the Champions League will make it hard for
the club to attract top talents in the summer, as well as keep a hold of their
current players.

According
to recent reports, Marcus Rashford is considering his future after he was left
on the bench against City despite the absence of Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani.

Ronaldo
might look for a premature exit from Old Trafford if they do not secure a top
four berth, as might France midfielder Paul Pogba – whose contract runs out in
the summer.

And while
United players understand their responsibility for the club’s current situation,
they believe the prolonged period without a permanent manager since Ole Gunnar
Solskjaer’s sacking on November 21 last year is not helping, according to BBC Sport.

Paris
Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino and Ajax boss Erik ten Hag are among
the frontrunners for the job, with United director of football John Murtough
saying last week that a “thorough process” was underway.
