Game of Thrones‘ is getting a Jon Snow spinoff series, and HBO made the announcement on June 16. Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, was not surprised at this, since her co-star, Kit Harington, had confided in her that he was in talks to continue playing the character.

Both Clarke and Harington played Danaerys and Snow, respectively for all eight seasons. However, the 35-year-old, who plays the mother of dragons, has made it clear that she isn’t interested in stepping into the role again. The final season saw Snow kill Targaryen, believing she’d bring another cycle of oppression while trying to free people from the firstly.

“No, I think I’m done”, Clarke said to the BBC, after adding that the spinoff was Harington’s idea. She said, “He has told me about it. And I know it exists. It’s happening. It’s been created by Kit as far as I can understand, so he’s in it from the ground up. So what you will be watching, hopefully, if it happens, is certified by Kit Harington.”

The author of the original books, George RR Martin, confirmed the series was being made under ‘Snow’ as a working title. He also said that Harington met him at his Santa Fe home, where they fleshed out the story details.

“Yes, it was Kit Harington who brought the idea to us,” the 73-year-old said, adding, “I cannot tell you the names of the writers/showrunners, since that has not been cleared for release yet but Kit brought them in too, his own team, and they are terrific.”

Speaking of the upcoming series, Clarke further added, “It’s going to be weird as hell”. She concluded, “I’m going to watch this as a fresh viewer because it’s [set] a be-jillion years before our show, so it’s going to feel different.”

Before the Jon Snow spinoff, another ‘Game of Thrones’ series is coming, which is titled ‘House of the Dragon‘. It is a prequel, set 200 years before the original show. It premieres on August 21.
