On Thursday, US President Joe Biden retaliated against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine by imposing more sanctions, authorising the deployment of thousands more troops to NATO partner Germany, and stating that America would stand up to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Biden stated that the US will block assets of large Russian banks, implement export bans directed at the country’s high-tech needs, and sanction Russian corporate oligarchs in order to target Russia’s financial system.

Following the invasion of Ukraine, which is not a member of NATO, the president stated that the US will deploy extra military to Germany to support NATO. An extra 7,000 US troops will be deployed.
