Faf du Plessis was on Saturday named as Royal Challengers Bangalore’s captain for IPL 2022. He will be one of the two overseas players leading a franchise this year. The other one is Kane Williamson, who will captain the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Rohit Sharma has been leading the Mumbai Indians since 2013. Under his leadership, the team has won five IPL titles. In 129 matches as skipper, the opening batsman has won 75 and lost 50. He has a win percentage of 59.68.

Chennai Super Kings: MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni has been leading the Chennai Super Kings since 2008. He has led the team to four IPL titles, making the yellow army the second-most successful team in the league. In 204 matches as skipper, the 40-year-old  has won 121 and lost 82. He has a win percentage of 59.60.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Kane Williamson

Kane Williamson has been leading the Sunrisers Hyderabad since 2018. In 33 matches as skipper, the Kiwi has won 16 and lost 16. He has a win percentage of 50.

Royal Challengers Bangalore: Faf du Plessis

Faf du Plessis has never captained an IPL team.

Lucknow Supergiants: KL Rahul

KL Rahul was the captain of the Punjab Kings in 2020 and 2021 IPL seasons. In 27 matches as skipper, the opening batsman has won 11 and lost 14. He has a win percentage of 44.44. 

Gujarat Titans: Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya has never captained an IPL team.

Kolkata Knight Riders: Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer captained the Delhi Capitals from 2018 to 2020. In 41 matches as skipper, the Mumbai-based batsman has won 21 and lost 18. He has a win percentage of 53.65.

Punjab Kings: Mayank Agarwal

Mayank Agarwal lost his only match as captain when he led the Punjab Kings in 2021.

Delhi Capitals: Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant captained the Delhi Capitals in 2021. In 21matches as skipper, the wicketkeeper-batsman has won 16 and lost nine. He has a win percentage of 59.37.
