The G7 leaders are currently meeting in Germany, and have discussed serious matters such as how to further isolate Russia due to the ongoing war in Ukraine. Banning gold imports is the proposed solution, and US President Joe Biden also condemned the missile strikes on Kyiv, calling it “more of their barbarism”, New York Post reported.

However, the leaders also discussed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s infamous bare-chested picture where he’s riding a horse.

“Jackets on – jackets off …” British Prime Minister Boris Johnson asked his counterparts, while seating himself at the table, as per an Agence France-Presse video.

Justin Trudeau of Canada, replied to this, saying “Let’s wait for the picture.” Johnson responded “We all have to show we’re tougher than Putin”, drawing laughter.

Trudeau continued, “We’re going to get the bare-chested horseback-riding display.”

Meanwhile, Ursula von der Leyen, the European Commission president said “Oh, yes! Horseback riding is the best”.

Johnson added, “We got to show them our pecs.”

The leaders were referring to Putin’s picture from back in 2009, where the Russian president can be seen riding a horse, sporting a chain. In some pictures, he’s also wearing sunglasses.

Putin, in 2018, defended his decision to go topless, telling Australian journalists he did not need to hide.

“When I am on vacation, I see no need to hide behind the bushes, and there is nothing wrong with that”, the Russian president had said, as per NY Post.

Notably, Biden didn’t make fun of Putin during this time.

The G7 or Group of Seven is a political forum, which includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States. The EU is a ‘non-enumerated member’. As expected, the war in Ukraine, which began on February 24, has featured heavily in the discussions at the summit.
