Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated with great zeal by worshippers of Lord Hanuman. The day is observed as the monkey god’s birth anniversary, and followers throng temples to worship the Lord and seek his blessings to keep them safe from evil. Hanuman Jayanti falls on April 16 this year.

Lord Hanuman, a symbol of power and energy, is also thought to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva. He is the son of Anjana and Kesari and goes by various names, including Bajrangbali, Pawanputra, Hanumanta, Sankatmochan, Dukhbhanjan, and Kesari Nandan.
