US Representative Dan Crenshaw was mobbed at a Republican convention in Texas on Sunday. The crowd mainly consisted of far-right activists, while some were also reportedly seen wearing ‘Proud Boys’ gear, according to media reports citing unnamed sources.

Dan Crenshaw, who serves as a US Representative for Texas’ 2nd Congressional district, was welcomed on stage with loud boos and unfriendly comments from the crowd. Some attendees also mocked Crenshaw’s physical appearance.

Crenshaw, who lost an eye while serving in the US Army in Afghanistan, was called “eyepatch McCain” and globalist RINO (Republican In Name Only), according to the Huffington Post. Tucker Carlson, a leading Fox News host and conservative, had previously tagged Crenshaw as “eyepatch McCain”.

Alex Stein was one of the many activists who were taken out of the area following the incident. Multiple arrests were also made by law enforcement officials at the site, according to unnamed witnesses.

Mediaite quoted Stein saying that “he was the real victim” in the incident and that US Representative Crenshaw used his “police force” to assault him.

Far-right politicians in the United States have connected the baby formula shortage in the country to the large aid packages that are being sent to Ukraine. Representative Crenshaw disagreed.

Crenshaw, who was called a “traitor” by the crowd, said that the situations were not linked, according to the Huffington Post.

Crenshaw was not the only United States lawmaker who was targetted by far-right crowds. US Senator John Cornyn, who spoke at the same convention a day before Crenshaw, was also booed off the stage. Cornyn made headlines after negotiating a bipartisan gun reform deal after the Uvalde shooting, which resulted in the death of more than 20 people.
