The Beating Retreat ceremony marks the end of the Republic Day celebrations. The 73rd Republic Day has seen some changes in the celebration, with the trademark ‘Abide with me’ hymn being replaced by ‘Ae Mere Watan ke Logon’. Songs with an Indian fervour signalled the end of the events which started on January 23 this year. Further, viewers were in for a treat as 1,000 made in India drones put up a dazzling show, in a first for the country. The event at Vijay Chowk was attended by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, and the nation’s president, Ram Nath Kovind.
