At least six people were killed on Saturday when a large tornado swept through central Iowa, damaging buildings and knocking down power lines. The tornado touched down in the area southwest of Des Moines at about 4:30 p.m. Four were injured in addition to those killed and among those killed were children and adults, authorities said. Photos shared on social media showed downed trees, debris, and damaged roofs and vehicles. At one point on Saturday, power outages affected about 10,000 in the Des Moines area.
