India reported 3,33,533 new COVID cases, 525 deaths, and 2,59,168 recoveries in the last 24 hours, according to data updated by the health ministry on Sunday. 

The daily case count was 4,171 lesser than the previous day.

With this, the country’s active cases have reached 21,87,205, comprising 5.57% of the total infections, while the national recovery rate has decreased to 93.18%, reported PTI.

The daily positivity rate has marginally increased from 17.22% 17.78%. 

Forty-eight pandemic-related deaths were also reported in Maharashtra in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, Delhi recorded 45

fatalities in a single day, its highest since June 5 (68 deaths).

India’s vaccination coverage has exceeded 161.92 crore (1,61,92,84,270), with over 61 lakh doses being administered on Saturday. More than 79 lakh eligible persons have also received their booster doses.  

The country’s COVID vaccination tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.
