IPL 2022: Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and opted to bat against Delhi Capitals on Sunday. KL Rahul, the skipper of the new team, said that the team has benched pacer Avesh Khan for the game.

Off-spinner Krishnappa Gowtham will replace the pacer in LSG’s bowling attack. Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant said that his team has no changes.

KL Rahul said that Krishnappa Gowtham will be a “good replacement” for the team as Avesh Khan rests for the game. “Avesh is just coming from a small injury, didn’t want to play him back-to-back”, the skipper said.

“Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but you got to take positives and move forward”, Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant said before walking off to the dugout.

“We do not mind because we were in two minds. The wicket is looking on the slower side but this is a new wicket and no team has played on this wicket. We are always trying to improve the way we play”, he added.

Delhi Capitals will be heading into Sunday’s clash with hopes to get dominance on the points table. The team is currently seeded at the sixth spot and has secured eight points. If played with a strong net run rate, Delhi Capitals may even be able to climb two spots.

Rivals Lucknow Super Giants are far ahead in the competition with 12 points and six wins.
