Mumbai IndiansDewald Brevis, dubbed as the mini version of AB de Villiers, on Wednesday hit a no-look six against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the MCA Stadium, Pune on Wednesday. 

The 18-year-old scored 29 runs off 19 balls on his IPL debut with the help of two boundaries and as many sixes.

The no-look six happened in the eigth over. Varun Chakaravarthy was bought into the attack as Brevis and Ishan Kishan had started attacking the KKR bowlers. The mystery spinner tried to get the delivery to drift into the youngster’s legs. The South African bent his head and took a swing to deposit the ball over deep mid-wicket.

However, on the last ball of the same over, Chakaravarthy amanged to fox Brevis and the batsman was stumped. The 18-year-old tried to slogsweep an outside off ball but was beaten only to see Sam Billings do some quick glovework behind.

Brevis replaced Tim David in Mumbai Indians’ playing 11 on Wednesday. Suryakumar Yadav, who scored a brilliant half-century, came in for Anmolpreet Singh. 

Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bowl. 

Five-time IPL champions, batting first, lost skipper Rohit Sharma cheaply. The 34-year-old was done by a paced up short delivery by Umesh Yadav. Ishan Kishan, who is Mumbai’s highest run-scorer in 2022 so far, built a slow partnership with Dewald Brevis before the latter was stumped.

Kishan was dismissed for 14 runs off 21 balls. Suryakumar Yadav then scored 52 runs off 36 balls and Tilak Varma played a key hand to take the Mumbai Indians to a respectable total.
