SunRisers Hyderabad batter Rahul Tripathi smashed a 32-ball fifty against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday. It was his third fifty of IPL 2022.

The right-handed batter was eventually unbeaten on 76 off 44 balls. He smashed three sixes and nine boundaries as SRH posted 193 for six. In the 16th over, bowled by Daniel Sams, Tripathi hit two boundaries and a six to amass 16 runs.

The 31-year-old top-order batter was eventually dismissed by Ramandeep Singh in the 18th over. Tripathi’s whirlwind innings came in a match when SRH needed to post a big total to make sure they win by a big margin to improve their Net Run Rate (NRR).

His ability to read the game has been superb and has won his side many contests. Justifying his match-winner’s tag, Tripathi played a vital knock in SRH’s must-win match.

Tripathi, an explosive batter, now has amassed 393 runs in 13 matches at an average of 39.30. He so far scored three half-centuries and 76 is his highest score of the season.

Displaying his ability to build partnerships, he also shared two important partnerships – first, a 78 runs partnership with Priyam Garg and then another 76 runs partnership with Nicholas Pooran to lay the foundation of SRH innings.

Opener Priyam Garg smashed 42 off 26 deliveries, while Nicholas Pooran blazed away to 38 off 22.

Ramandeep Singh was the most successful bowler for MI, taking three wickets for 20 runs in three overs at the Wankhede Stadium.

Riley Meredith was the most expensive bowler as he conceded 44 runs in four overs. Sama gave away 39.

Tripathi, earlier this season, hit a 37-ball 71 against his former IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders. During his mind-blowing knock, he also shared a 94-run partnership with Aiden Markram.

The proven match-winner will now hope for his bowlers to defend the massive target against Mumbai Indians and keep their playoffs hope alive.
