Mumbai Indians on Wednesday brought pacer Tymal Mills into the playing 11 for Ramandeep Singh against the Punjab Kings at the MCA Stadium, Pune. The five-time champions managed to put late breaks to PBKS’ innings, to restrict Mayank Agarwal and co to 198 runs in the first innings.

However, after seeing all Mumbai’s bowlers, except for Jasprit Bumrah, getting smashed all over the park, social media users and cricket experts asked: Where in Tim David?

The Australian hard-hitter could have helped MI on a track, which did not offer much spin or swing. However, Rohit Sharma and co benched him. 

Dissapointed by the team’s call, former India opener Wasim Jaffer tweeted, “When you’ve bought someone for 8.25cr, surely he’s good enough to play more than a couple of games. Really surprised to see MI not showing faith in Tim David. #MIvPBKS #IPL2022.”

David was purchased by Mumbai Indians for a whopping Rs 8.25 crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction. The 26-year-old had disappointing outings against the Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals. He scored 12 and one in the games respectively and has been rested since.

MI came into the game on the back of four consecutive losses. Rohit Sharma and co are yet to score their first points in IPL 2022 and lie at the bottom of the points table.
